Scott’s Exhibit at Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center
Thursday - Opening Night
We arrived to The Joseph hotel with about an hour to get dressed for Opening Night. Only one of the Jacobs' rooms were ready, so we somehow managed to shuffle between mirrors to get dolled up after our red eye flight to get here.
Our warehouse manager and Scott's righthand woman, Jackie and a collector and local friend, Gary joined us on this exciting weekend in Tennessee.
Upon arrival at MontHaven Arts & Cultural Center, we all perked up when we saw the beautiful historic home and large banners outside announcing Scott's art exhibit.

Stepping foot inside this Historic Mansion and seeing all of Scott's original paintings stopped me in my tracks.
The walls of the house/museum are painted a gray-blue (almost identical to my bedroom at home) and Scott's paintings were illuminated on these grand walls.

Since we arrived early, we were able to meet the MontHaven staff that Jackie and Scott had been working with for MONTHS to curate this exhibit.

A portion of the original paintings came from private collections, some from Park West, and the largest portion straight from Scott and Sharon's home.

"Finishing Touch", "Catch of the Day", "100 Great Years" and 13 others were pulled from Scott and Sharon's house and crated by Scott and Ron Waldner over a two-day period. Then one day, Alexa and I were pursuaded to help load these monstrous crates into the Sprinter to await pick up of the freight company.
One of the crates weighed 150lbs, so we definitely had a good, yet unexpected work out.

While the event hadn't yet started, I was able to capture the essence of this beautiful home, the vintage furniture, and my dad's elegant artwork.

Everything about Monthaven exuded professionalism and Southern Charm. Even the pamphlets and booklets were beautifully designed for the exhibition.

As it began filling with people, it was fun witnessing people in awe, that may have never seen his work before.

Scott has made such an impact on the art world over his 50-year career as a gallery owner and artist. To see an entire house dedicated to his achievements was something I'll remember forever.
We were proud to see such a large group of people there to celebrate the arts, Scott, and the amazing work MACC does for children in the area.

Friday Fun
There were no public events Friday, so we got to spend the day enjoying Nashville.
Alexa, Sharon, Jackie and I got stuck in the middle of a wind/rainstorm, so we ducked into the nearest building which happened to be an old Gibson guitar warehouse which was converted into an awesome Game Center. We played a couple rounds of Corn Hole until the storm passed.

Once Scott was done filming with Park West, we met downtown to watch an old South Dakota friend, Eva Maxine perform at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row bar.
She and her band were so entertaining that we stayed their entire set! If you're ever Downtown Nashville, be sure to watch This Band Today play. You won't be disappointed.

Later that night, Alexa, Jackie and I were given tickets by Alexa's friend and MC of Thunder from Down Under.
I laughed most of the show while these ripped Aussies danced in costumes and speedos. Alexa loved it though! 😛
Saturday - MACC Gala
The following afternoon was the gala fundraiser. We all got dolled up in our gowns and tuxedos to support MACC and the beautiful work they're doing to help children through the arts.
More info on their Mission, here.

Overall, we had a great time in Nashville as a family, but it wouldn't have been the same without having Jackie and Gary there.
Perhaps we need to make it an annual thing to travel somewhere in the US as a Gallery team.

SUNDAY BRUNCH
Alexa and I flew home Sunday to be with our kids, so we missed the interview/brunch. Scott said it was his favorite part of the weekend sitting down with the locals and talking about art.

If you're interested in viewing this once in a lifetime display of Scott's work, it'll be on exhibit until June 13th!
