Scott’s 85th Sturgis Rally Painting
If you've been a fan of Scott's since the beginning of his Harley-Davidson art career, you know he's been the official artist for Sturgis Rally since 1993 and every Rally since then, he releases a new motorcycle painting.
If we take the time to review his Sturgis paintings from the last ten years, you'll see he's focused on newer motorcycles and/or images with people in it.
This year, he decided to channel Scott from the early 1990s by creating a painting with a full motorcycle as the focal point and an elaborate background. Keep reading to see what I mean.

Interviewing for Scott's New Painting
I set my computer up on Scott's paint-covered desk as he stood at his easel working on another painting.
I first asked him, why this image?
In between brushstrokes, he replied,
"I wanted to create a painting like some of my vintage images. I've done so many modern motorcycles lately. It was time to change it up."
In Scott's 2025 Sturgis painting called "America's Beauties", he includes a civilian version of the 1942 military motorcycle, a Harley-Davidson WL and a 1942 P51 Mustang.
This is the 85th Sturgis so he added "85" to the fuselage of the plane to incorporate the Rally.
Even though Sturgis was canceled in 1942 and 1943 for the war, this motorcycle could have been seen riding through The Black Hills in August.
Even though I've been watching Scott work on these detailed motorcycle paintings my whole life, I will always be blown away by his level of patience.
The number of different parts, chrome, and intricacies in it all intimidate me.
When I asked him what his favorite part of the painting was, he replied,
"My favorite part of the painting is the bike, as always."
With the proper blends of color, the motorcycle started to come to life! As he started finishing the different parts of the bike, it looked like the motorcycle was going to roll off the canvas and into the studio.
Bit by bit, Scott chiseled away at "America's Beauties" so it was ready for August's influx of bikers to Deadwood.
