Artist’s Notes

Early Spring, late afternoon light silhouettes a group American Buffalo (Bison) grazing at the historic Frawley Ranch in Lawrence County, South Dakota.  This majestic creature that almost went extinct was the main staple for most Native American tribes. It is estimated that more than six hundred million bison occupied the Northern Plains before the Gold Rush.
